To improve local government’s regulation of use and trade of palm resources, through well founded analysis of advantages and disadvantages of different alternatives.

PALMS will make alliances with existing projects, organizations and institutions contributing to development and land-use activities; and with local administrative and political authorities. PALMS will support implementation with advice, dissemination targeting specific stake-holders, including tools for assessment of land-use and management options, and training work-shops. WP8 on Dissemination will be PALMS’ most important instrument to transform research results into practical and usable tools for promoting sustainable management of palm resources. In this endeavor equal importance of ecological and economical factors will be taken into account as well as implementation of systems that can monitor effectiveness of interventions.
